Blazhe Koneski (1921-1993)
poet,
prose writer, essay writer, linguist. He was the first president of the
Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts. One of the founders of the Faculty
for Philosophy and History at the St. Kiril and Metodij University in
Skopje, and today the Faculty of Philology has his name. Short story
collections: Lozje (Vineyard), 1955. His translations of
Njegosh, Hayne, Shakespeare and many others have been highly evaluated. His
books have been translated into many world languages. Poetry
collections: Mostot (The Bridge), a poem 1945; Zemjata i
ljubovta (Earth and Love) 1948; Pesni (Poems) 1953; Vezilka
(The Embroiderer) 1955; Zapisi (Writings) 1974; Stari i novi
pesni (Old and New Poems) 1978; Cheshmite
(Water Places) 1984; Pismo (Letter) 1987; Crvka (Church)
1987; Zlatovrv (Golden Peak) 1989; Seizmograf (Seismographer)
1989; Nebeska reka (Sky River) 1991 and Crn oven (Black Ram)
1993. Scientific works: Grammar of the Macedonian Language,
History of the Macedonian language, On the Macedonian Literary Language,
etc. He was one of the composers of the first Writing Rules of the
Macedonian literary language. Awards: 11 October, Miladinovci
Brothers, Aco Shopov, Misla, Golden Wreath of the Struga Poetry
Evenings Festival, The Herder Awards, The Njegosh Award.
