Meto Jovanovski (1928)
a short story writer and
novelist. He was the president of the Macedonian PEN center and the Helsinki
Committee of Human Rights. Short story collections: Jardesh 1956;

vo cutot na bademite (Frost on Almond Blossoms) 1965; Zemja i tegoba
(Earth and Uneasiness) 1968; Svedoci (Witnesses) 1970; Budaletinki
(Fools) 1973; Orlovata dolina (Eagle’s Valley) 1979; Krlezhi
(Leaches) 1984; Balkanska kniga na umrenite ili Osloboduvanje preku
zboruvanje (The Balkan Book of the Dead or Liberation via Talking) 1992.
Children books: Ljuman Aramijata (Ljuman the Thief) 1954; Vojvoda
nad vojvodite (Commander above Commanders) 1980. Travel book:
Kluchevite na Menhetn (The Keys of Manhattan) 1983. He has also written
radio and TV Plays. He has compiled the anthology Edna druga Amerika (Another
America) 1978, and the lexicons Koj e koj, shto e shto (Who’s Who, What’s
What) 1963, and Mal literaturen leksokon (Small Literary Lexicon)
1971. His short stories have been published into several languages. He
translates from English and Russian.
