Dimitar Solev (1930)
a short story writer, novelist,
literary critic, and essayist. Before his retirement he was the director of TV
Skopje and the National and University Library in Skopje. Short story
collections: Okopneti snegovi (Melted Snow) 1965; Po rekata i
sproti nea (Up and Down the River) 1960; Ograda (Fence) 1963; Zima
na slobodata (Winter of Freedom) 1968; Slovo za Igora (Word on Igor)
1969; Polzhavi (Snails) 1975; Odbrani raskazi (Selected Stories)
1981; Crno ogledalo (Black Mirror) 1985; Kruzhno patuvanje na senkata
(Circular Movement of the Shadow) 1988; Odumiranje na drzhavata
(Extinction of the State) 1990 and Promena na sistemot (Change of the
System) 1993. Novels: Pod usvitenost (Under Heat) 1957;
Kratkata prolet na Mono Samonikov (The Short Spring of Mono Samonikov) 1964;
Dren (Dogwood) 1980; Zora zad agolot (Dawn Behind the Corner)
1984; Dubler (Stuntman) 1988, and Mrtva trka (Tie Run) 1998.
Essays: Quo Vadis Scriptor, in 1971. He also writes movie
scripts and radio and TV Plays. His books have been translated into
Serbo-Croatian, Albanian, Romanian and Russian. Awards: 11 October,
Racin Award, 13 November, Book of the Year (1990).
