Vlada Uroshevikj (1934)

poet, prose writer, essayist, and translator. Education: graduated from the Faculty of Philology, Sts. Cyril and Methodius University, Skopje. Worked as a professor at the same faculty, and was the head of the Department of Comparative Literature. His poems have been included in all anthologies of contemporary Macedonian poetry. Separate selections of his poetry have been published abroad in Serbian, Slovenian, and French and a collection of short stories in Polish. Has edited a number of anthologies of Macedonian, former Yugoslav, and French literature (some of them published abroad, in Belgium and Uzbekistan). His translations from French include works by Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Apollinaire, Breton, Michaux, Bosquet, etc., and a great number of books from Macedonian into Serbian. Awards: (domestic) – Mladost, Brakja Miladinovci (three times), Grigor Prlichev (for translation), Kiril Pejchinovikj-Tetoec (for translation), Racinovo priznanie.
