Dimitar Bashevski (1943)
Graduated from the Faculty of
Philosophy at the Sts. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. He was a
director and editor-in-chief of Kultura publishing house in Skopje.
Author of the following works: Stranec (Stranger) novel, 1969;
Vrakjanje (Return) novel, 1972; Raska (Splinter) novel, 1974; Nema
smrt dodeka dzvoni (While the Bell tolls there is no death) novel, 1980;
Edna godina od zhivotot na Ivan Plevnesh (A year in the life of Ivan Plevnesh)
novel, 1985; Kukjata na zhivotot (The House of Life) poetry, 1987;
Sarajanovskiot karanfil (The Sarajanovo Carnation) novel, 1990; Dnevnikot
na Anja (Anja’s Diary) novel for children, 1994; Privremen prestoj
(Temporary Sojourn) poetry, 1995; Sovladano vreme (Time overcome)
poetry, 1998; Bunar (The Well) (novel, 2001). Besides writing
poetry and prose, he also translates from English. He received the 11
October, Racin Award, and the Vancho Nikoleski Award for
his prose.
